Although at first glance the stories in volume 3 "Dream Country" seem disconnected, there is an underlying thread linking the four tales. Volume 3 of Sandman, "Dream Country", bridges the gap between dream and reality, exquisitely rendering different aspects of both, which could only be achieved by employing the visual artistry of the comic book panels. True to the name of the protagonist, the stories blend dream-like, imaginative universes with the sober perspective of a story-teller who gives the dreams shape through text and pictures. The series revolves around the Greek god of dream, Morpheus, whose name literally translates to "the maker of shapes".
